The National Platform - Integrated Sustainable Waste Management - Sri Lanka is a collective effort for adopting integrated, economically feasible and environmentally sound sustainable waste management practices in Sri Lanka. It intends to integrate efforts from government institutions, private sector firms and civil society organizations.

  The National Platform
   Introduction
 
The National Platform has been established to facilitate collaboration and cooperation in waste management across Sri Lanka.
   Objectives
 
The objectives of the National Platform are:

1. To share experiences and learning from ongoing projects related to waste management, so as to avoid replication of projects waste of resources.

2. To develop a proper integrated waste management plan which ensures the participation of all interested parties.

3. To share good practices, lessons learned and knowledge gained through the experience of each of the member organisations.

  National Platform Meeting  
 
The Energy Forum together with VNG International and WASTE-Netherlands conducted a National Workshop on Integrated Sustainable Waste Management. The event was held at the Peacock Beach Hotel in Hambanthota on 20th & 21st of November 2007. The workshop focussed on lessons learned from the projects implemented so far and policies and strategies of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
